Job description

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.  

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


This position has a $5,000 sign on bonus.

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the SWFTS, Cyber, and SW Infrastructure functional areas. This role combines hands-on software development with technical leadership and cross-functional coordination on the Payload Control System (PCS).

Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware Development & Engineering
  • Design and develop code for new Capability Items (CIs)
  • Investigate and resolve Problem Trouble Reports (PTRs)
  • Collaborate with other functional areas to support PTR investigations
  • Ensure PCS operates in SELinux enforcing mode
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers in their technical development
  • Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
SWFTS Functional Area Leadership
  • Lead and facilitate the SWFTS functional area Problem Trouble Report Board (PTRB)
  • Assign and manage SWFTS-related PTRs across team members
  • Review work products to ensure PTRB acceptability and quality standards
  • Monitor SWFTS Jira for new PTRs, assess PCS impact, and maintain cross-Jira traceability
  • Actively participate in SWFTS Middleware and Messaging Working Groups
Technical Documentation & Interface Management
  • Author Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and collaborate with government stakeholders to resolve comments
  • Review test procedures for accuracy, completeness, and requirements coverage
  • Prepare SWFTS Baseline Change Requests to document inter-subsystem interface changes resulting from new or deprecated PCS functionality
  • Serve as primary point of contact between PCS and external subsystems for program interfaces
