Job description

Catalyst Operations & Analytics is seeking Data Scientist to support a US national security customer.  These positions will work with a team of developers, architects, and data scientists to build new capabilities for our client, bringing innovative ideas to challenging and complex problems. Selected applicants will be required to query and structure data, apply algorithms to develop models, develop metrics and data visualizations, and deploy visualization products to web-based environments. Applicants must also have a strong background in technology, the ability to structure data for reporting, and a strategic view for how to present analytic results to customers. This position will be responsible for presenting and explaining complex results to users.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Apply expertise in data and social network analysis to identify and research the use of new quantitative and qualitative methods to help solve problems and communicate findings.
  • Support decision making through the creation of analytics, Python scripts, Jupyter Notebooks, or other appropriate methods.
  • Develop and apply models, leverage software tools, and generate visualizations using Tableau or other data visualization tools to address business process challenges.
  • Query databases using SQL with structured data and perform statistical analysis.
  • Contribute text on tools and methods to written products developed by other team members.
  • Think strategically about how to publish data visualizations and present analytic results.
  • Support business decisions with ad hoc analysis.


Required Qualifications:

  • Coding experience, specifically with Python and Pandas.
  • Experience in advanced analytics, such as social network analysis (SNA) or graph theory.
  • 3 years of experience using data sources from industry, academia, the IC, the military, and/ or the scientific community.
  • 3 years of experience discovering, organizing, and structuring data and applying advanced analytic techniques, such as mathematical modeling, geospatial analysis, and applications of graph theory.
  • 3 years of experience using Python, R, or other coding languages and developing and evaluating algorithms and methods.
  • Experience with data manipulation, analytic papers or report writing, and subject matter briefing(s), slides and graphic products.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong relationship and network building skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in applicable discipline.
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph required.
