Lake Station Community Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to provide instructional and classroom support for its educational and academic programs in its schools.
Paraprofessionals with Lake Station Community Schools must be Highly Qualified upon employment; by meeting at least one (1) of the three (3) following requirements:

  1. Completed at least 2 years (48 credit hours or more) of study in higher education.
  2. Obtained an associate's degree (or higher).
  3. Meet a rigorous standard of quality by passing the ETS - Praxis ParaPro Assessment exam demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, reading readiness, writing and mathematics or successfully complete district course for Highly Qualified status.
A Paraprofessional:
  1. Provides instructional support to classroom teacher and/or Title facilitator;
  2. Provide reinforcement of skills as prescribed by teacher;
  3. Help students as they complete lessons delivered by teacher;
  4. Collaborates with teacher(s) as assigned for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines;
  5. Reports to classroom teacher, Title I facilitator, Title I Coordinator, and/or building principal;
  6. Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions;
  7. Assists in monitoring supplementary work, providing small group instruction for students; and,
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Work days - school days as assigned
Wage: Depends on experience and education.
