Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Upper-Level Math & Science Tutor who specializes in helping students with advanced subjects and test preparation, including ACT prep. The ideal candidate will have expertise in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This tutor will also provide support for homework assistance and study skills for high school and middle school students (8th grade and above). Flexibility to work with younger students, if necessary, is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring in upper-level Math (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus) and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), primarily for students in 8th grade and above.
  • Deliver personalized ACT prep sessions, focusing on test-taking strategies, time management, and subject review.
  • Assist students with homework support, helping them understand concepts and develop effective problem-solving strategies.
  • Assess studentsโ€™ individual learning needs and create customized lesson plans to address specific academic goals.
  • Foster a positive, engaging, and motivating learning environment that encourages academic growth and confidence.
  • Regularly monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians as needed.
  • Adapt tutoring methods to meet the unique learning styles and needs of each student.
  • Ensure that students are consistently challenged while providing the necessary support to improve understanding and performance.
  • Work with students in small group settings when applicable, and be open to tutoring students younger than 8th grade if required.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree (or working towards) in Education, Math, Science, or a related field.
  • Expertise in upper-level Math and Science subjects (Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
  • Experience tutoring or teaching high school and middle school students, particularly in upper-level subjects and ACT prep.
  • Strong understanding of the ACT exam format and proven strategies for success.
  • Ability to break down complex topics and make them understandable for students of varying abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to work with students of varying grade levels and academic needs, including younger students when necessary.
  • Passionate about helping students succeed and building their confidence in their academic abilities.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.
