Overview

Join a busy healthcare laboratory as a Lab Assistant, where you'll perform essential routine laboratory functions to support laboratory professionals. Responsibilities

Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory department

Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment

Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, and checking for issues like clots or fibrin

Inoculate specimens and prepare slides as necessary

Print extra labels and record data such as temperature charts

Perform quality assurance and control duties, and resolve pending lists

Find and locate missing samples and decontaminate work areas

Change gas cylinders and maintain department records

Follow all PPE, safety regulations, and biohazard disposal protocols

Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs, ensuring accurate data entry

Complete weekly radioactive wipe tests and maintain department files

Disposal of biohazardous materials according to safety standards

Assist with specimen storage, retrieval, and routine laboratory tasks

Required Skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple specimen-related activities efficiently
