Job Description

This internship position is for a candidate that is available for full time summer hours and part time work (15-20 hrs/wk) throughout the school year, and requires the candidate be local to the greater Salt Lake City, UT area.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems for Quality department. These activities include providing ongoing administration and maintenance of the company's systems for quality performance metrics and associated product technical files.


Essential job Functions:

  • Assists in the generation of formal test protocols and reports.

  • Assists in the execution of test protocols and procedures. Sets up and operates test equipment and records measurements with limited supervision.

  • Maintains accurate data and organizes and presents data in a reportable format.

  • Provides process/test method training to manufacturing/QC personnel.

  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of BAS policies and procedures and ISO and FDA requirements.

  • Expedites and tracks Development Builds through documentation and manufacturing processes.

  • Must be able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies and procedures outlined by Bard policies.

  • The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of processes, equipment, tooling and fixtures to produce products that meet customer requirements and are cost effective.

  • The incumbent must also sustain supply chains by managing vendor and material changes; as well as product, equipment and process testing.

  • The incumbent is responsible for assisting in system assurance including documentation, testing and inspection, product and process development, and non-conforming product investigations.

  • Will assist in the support of Manufacturing, New Product Development and Regulatory to ensure systems are in compliance with all internal and external guidelines.

  • Will also work on product failure and root cause investigations.

  • The incumbent is responsible for assisting in concept generation, design, development and evaluation of new products, materials and technologies.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in personal computer software, especially Minitab and Excel.

  • Ability to work in a team.

  • Good communication skills (written/verbal)

  • Ability to integrate written and verbal instructions; work under supervision.

  • Basic organizational and math/statistics skills.

  • Basic knowledge of standard laboratory practices.

  • Ability to collect, record and report data accurately. Detail oriented.

  • Technical writing proficiency.

  • General aptitude with testing and manufacturing equipment.

  • Task oriented.

  • Ability to perform design review functions

  • Must read, write and understand English.

  • Must be detailed in handling information/data.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Engineering or a closely related technical field.


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.
