POSITION: Teaching as a Professional Education Pathway Instructor
LOCATION:  Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy
JOB SUMMARY:
The Teaching as a Profession (TAP) Instructor provides engaging, standards-based instruction that prepares high school students for careers in education and postsecondary opportunities. This role focuses on developing future educators through rigorous coursework, hands-on learning experiences, and real-world application aligned to Georgia's Education Pathway standards. The instructor fosters student growth in pedagogy, professionalism, leadership, and college/career readiness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:








  1. Bachelors' degree in Education; masters degree preferred;
  2. Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver eligible;
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience within the past seven (7) years;
  4. Eligibility to teach dual enrollment or collegiate-level education courses (preferred);
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

  1. Ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned to diverse learning needs;
  2. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills;
  3. Knowledge of pedagogy, instructional strategies, and classroom management best practices;

  5. Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve outcomes;
  6. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and community partners;
  7. Commitment to developing future educators and modeling professional practice.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction & Student Learning

  • Deliver high-quality instruction aligned to Georgia Education Pathway standards;
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate real-world applications and career readiness;
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners;
  • Integrate instructional technology and digital tools to enhance learning;
  • Maintain a safe, engaging, and well-managed classroom environment.

Curriculum & Program Development

  • Design and revise curriculum, course outlines, and instructional materials;
  • Ensure alignment with high school, CTAE, and dual enrollment expectations;
  • Participate in curriculum development, pathway alignment, and program improvement initiatives;
  • Support work-based learning opportunities and field experiences when applicable.

Assessment & Data Use

  • Develop and implement assessments to monitor student progress;
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance;
  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and improve outcomes;
  • Communicate student progress regularly with students, families, and school personnel.

Program Management & Compliance

  • Maintain program documentation, certification requirements, and compliance records;
  • Manage classroom resources, equipment, and instructional materials;
  • Assist with budget planning and inventory management as needed;
  • Ensure adherence to district, state, and CTAE program guidelines;

Professional Learning & Collaboration

  • Participate in ongoing professional learning, workshops, and industry engagement;
  • Collaborate with school staff, district personnel, and postsecondary partners;
  • Serve as a mentor and advisor to students pursuing careers in education;
  • Support school initiatives, committees, and extracurricular activities as assigned.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and reliability;
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and stakeholders;
  • Model effective teaching practices and leadership for aspiring educators;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and circulate throughout the classroom for extended periods;
  • Ability to lift instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds;
  • Ability to operate standard classroom and technology equipment.


REPORTS TO:  Principal
SALARY RANGE:  Ten-Month Contract - Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
