Job description

VACANCY:  The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill the Intervention & Enrichment Coordinator position.
REPORTS TO: Directors of Curriculum and assigned Building Principal


JOB SUMMARY: The Intervention and Enrichment Coordinator will be assigned annually to support buildings as determined by need.  This position is responsible for providing small-group interventions, enhancement lessons for selected students based upon performance data, collecting and reporting student data, designing small group programming, and monitoring individual student progress. Additionally, this position will coordinate intervention and enhancement programming in conjunction with building and district administration.

 
STAFF WORK HOURS:  9:20 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 


  • Analyze multiple sets of data and coordinate with the District Leadership/Building Impact Team to determine the lowest & highest performing percentage of the assigned building's student body in order to target intervention and enrichment appropriately.
  • Perform duties including maintaining an active caseload of students, planning lessons, implementing daily interventions and lessons, communicating with classroom teachers and building administration, and documenting all assessment/progress in the student information system.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and district meetings as assigned by the Directors of Curriculum
  • Research best practices in reading and mathematics to design high-impact lessons.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers, TLCs, and other Coordinators for the testing and selection of students for intervention/ enrichment.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate students' intervention/enrichment schedules, in conjunction with input from building and district leadership.
  • Serves as a resource to building administration in identifying reading and mathematics needs, adapting instructional techniques, and implementing high-quality instruction.
  • Collaborate with Directors of Curriculum and Curriculum Coordinators on care and distribution of materials, facilitation of interventions, design of enhancement, and reporting of data.
  • Serve as a role model for all students, and performs duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Directors of Curriculum or Building Principal

 
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE 


  • Bachelor's Degree in teaching or related field required. Master's degree in Reading or Mathematics, preferred.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License with teaching endorsement appropriate to level required. Mathematics and Science endorsements preferred.

 
EXPERIENCE

  • 5 or more years of experience in teaching preferred
  • Previous participation in Continuous Improvement efforts and demonstrated success with application of Continuous Improvement methodology in classroom practice

 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Salary for this position is in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the AFT-CIO Local 604 and the Valley View CUSD #365U. Coordinator work year is based on the contractual certified educator calendar with an additional five (5) scheduled days as determined annually by the District. Coordinators may be scheduled additional days as directed by the District. Coordinators will be assigned annually to support buildings as determined by need. This is an FLSA Exempt position.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:  
Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent.  Work requires the employee to perform the following critical physical demands of the job:

  1. Ability to regularly talk, see, and hear.
  2. Ability to lift, pull, push, walk, stand, sit, and use of hands for fine manipulation during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities.
  3. Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  4. Must have valid Illinois Driver's License and ability to travel throughout the District.
