Job description

POSITION TITLE: Instructional Aide 
LOCATION: Clearwater Creek Elementary
HOURS OF WORK: 7 Hrs. Daily/169-day calendar
STATUS: Classified - Non-Exempt, Full Time 
HOURLY:  $14.00

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing additional educational support for K-6 students. The instructional aide may be assigned to student supervision duties including but not limited to lunchroom supervision and added support for certified staff members during recess duty. Additionally, instructional aides may be required to assist in supporting the building office as needed. 

This position reports to the building administrator. 

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Assess student math and reading aptitude to support student progress and learning needs. 
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to meet instructional needs. 
  • Coordinates with building principal to determine which students should be in small groups. 
  • Gathers lesson materials and instructs students with support from classroom teachers. 
  • Meets with students in small groups for the purpose of working on specific areas of need. 
  • May be assigned to lunchroom supervision, added support for certified staff members during recess duty and/or other student supervision duties. 
  • May be assigned to assist the building office as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • One-year experience in an education environment preferred. 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility. 
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing, compiling, and organizing data. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Highly collaborative team player. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.). 
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

This position requires the performance of light work. The position involves occasional hearing, lifting, sitting, standing, talking, and walking. The worker is required to have close visual acuity for the operation of learning technologies and relevant office equipment. 

The job is performed in hazardous conditions.
