Materials Program Manager information

How does a Materials Program Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success?

A Materials Program Manager works closely with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams to coordinate the timely delivery and quality of materials needed for production. They facilitate regular meetings to align on project timelines, identify potential supply chain risks, and resolve any bottlenecks. Effective communication and proactive problem-solving are essential, as the role often involves balancing competing priorities and ensuring all stakeholders are informed of changes or delays. This collaborative approach helps minimize disruptions and supports on-time project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Materials Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Materials Program Manager, you need expertise in supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement, often supported by a degree in business, engineering, or supply chain management. Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, as well as certifications such as APICS CPIM or PMP, are highly valued. Strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate across teams are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills ensure efficient materials flow, cost control, and the successful delivery of projects within complex manufacturing or production environments.

Job description

ABOUT THE JOB

In Materials Management, you will be joining the new home for Special Projects in one of Anduril's largest, most critical functions.  As a Senior Materials Program Manager, you will tackle high-priority initiatives to scale our physical footprint, streamline material flow, and safeguard high-value inventory. We are looking for a heavy-hitter with deep supply chain knowledge who can operate autonomously, lead cross-functional projects, and ensure our materials infrastructure enables production to deliver hardware On-time, with Quality, and at Cost.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will lead some of the most consequential strategic work at the company - building the analytical foundation and forward-looking strategy that de-risks our Supply Chain as we scale production across a growing portfolio of products. You will partner directly with executives across Supply Chain to translate ambiguous, high-stakes problems into structured analyses and executable strategies.

  • Drive Material Management Strategy: Develop a deep, first-principles understanding of material management and flow, sub-tier suppliers, and geopolitical dynamics that drive risk in our supply chain. Build analytics to size exposure, monitor leading indicators, and inform investment decisions on inventory, material flow, ERP/WMS integration, and federal compliance.
  • Build the Strategy, Then Drive It: Synthesize analyses into a coherent material management strategy and bring it to life through executive recommendations. Own work end-to-end - from problem definition, to quantitative modeling, to exec-ready synthesis, to cross-functional implementation.
  • Collaborate with Executives: Structure and lead working sessions with senior leaders to frame decisions and drive alignment on trade-offs that materially shape the cost, schedule, and resilience of our production base. Translate complex findings into crisp narratives enabling rapid decision-making.
  • Go Deep in Data and Systems: Master our ERP, MRP, and supply chain data. Build scrappy analyses on short timelines and develop tooling / dashboards that let functional teams continuously measure and act on critical metrics.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain operations, management consulting - or some other experience where you just had to figure out how to get stuff done.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You are self-driven and relentlessly proactive. You don't need someone to tell you to "move". You just move. We'd rather have to tell you to slow down than to speed up.
  • You don't wait on others to solve problems. You proactively step into the gap to offer solutions yourself.
  • You don't have to be told what to do or how to do it - you're the first one to bring forward solutions and ideas, and then receptively take feedback on them and iterate with the team. You enjoy the idea of seeing your team as "guardrails" to keep you on track, but not the engine pushing you forward. You are that engine!
  • You have an appetite to build clear frameworks to structure problems. Hardware startups are messy - bringing clarity and structured-thinking to the table is a huge asset.
  • You lean into acknowledging your weaknesses and take the idea of feedback and growth seriously.
  • You get energy from being a thought partner for others and it excites you to spend time translating operational problems into data problems, and to then going and executing on them.
  • You enjoy working at a place where no one minds if you leave early one day to go to an appointment or run an errand, but you also don't mind responding to Slacks in the evening while you're watching Netflix.
  • You have an appetite to build clear frameworks to structure problems.
  • You have strong analytical aptitude. You intuitively think about problems in terms of numbers and data-models, and you are able to quickly execute analyses in Excel or other tools.
  • You are comfortable communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work. This role can at-times require comms to large groups and senior leadership. This should excite you!
