Job description

This role is accountable to:
  • Plan, prioritize, and supervise shipping and receiving activities across shifts; assign work to dispatcher and dock personnel to meet production and customer schedules.
  • Coordinate carrier selection, pickup/appointment scheduling, and load building to optimize cost while meeting service, safety, and packaging requirements.
  • Oversee accurate processing of outbound and inbound documentation (BOLs, packing lists, ASN/EDI, certificates) and timely system transactions in ERP/MRP.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and hazardous materials handling; maintain required records and train employees on procedures and PPE.
  • Monitor daily performance metrics (on-time shipment, dock-to-stock time, freight claims, damage/missing) and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Production, Inventory Control, and Customer Service to align material availability, staging, and priorities for a 24/7 operation.
  • Maintain safe, organized docks, yards, and storage areas; enforce 5S, traffic flow, and equipment inspection requirements (forklifts, cranes).
  • Partner with supply chain and finance on freight audits, cost control, and vendor performance; support carrier negotiations and scorecards.
