Job description

SUMMARY:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all logistics and inventory operations supporting domestic and international manufacturing for the assigned manufacturing facilities. This role ensures effective inventory control, uninterrupted material flow, compliant global shipping, optimized warehouse operations, and cost-effective transportation. The position plays a critical role in supporting production continuity, customer service, and working capital performance across multiple sites.

Logistics Operations

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage inbound, outbound, and intercompany logistics activities.

  • Oversee domestic and international transportation across all modes.

  • Ensure on-time, accurate delivery of raw materials and finished goods.

  • Act as a leader to shipping and receiving operations

  • Enter customer and internal orders into QAD, ensuring accuracy and correct pricing.

  • Develop, document, and enforce logistics standard operating procedures.

  • Monitor logistics KPIs including OTIF, transit time, and freight efficiency.

  • Act as a key resource on best practices for logistics to drive operational improvements.

Warehouse Operations

  • Manage internal and third-party warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, recycling, wash and pack, and inventory control.

  • Optimize layout, space utilization, and labor productivity of assigned departments.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

  • Track and improve assigned department KPIs related to productivity, accuracy, and material damage.

  • Act as key resource on best practices for department processes to maximize efficiencies.

  • Manage raw materials, finished goods, and consignment inventory at customer locations, including inventory accuracy, pricing, and product receiving.

International Trade & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international shipping and trade regulations.

  • Ensure all logistics and shipping activities meet USMCA compliance requirements.

  • Prepare and manage hazardous waste manifests in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of international shipping documentation, including:

  • Support IMDS (International Material Data System) reporting and compliance.

  • Maintain chemical traceability documentation in alignment with regulatory and customer requirements.

  • Manage customs brokers, freight forwarders, and international logistics providers.

  • Oversee preparation of import/export documentation and support trade audits.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with the Compliance and Sustainability Manager to ensure alignment with environmental, regulatory, and trade requirements.

  • Collaborate with tooling contractors and internal teams on logistics support and material readiness.

  • Assist and coordinate Material Planning and Production (MPP) activities at the plant level to ensure readiness for planning meetings.

  • Support the Purchasing department with packaging and logistics functions

Financial & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and manage logistics and inventory budgets.

  • Assist with carrier sourcing and contract negotiations.

  • Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement opportunities.

  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies to logistics and inventory processes.

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize ERP (QAD) systems to manage logistics and inventory activities.

  • Ensure accuracy of inventory and logistics master data.

  • Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership review.

  • Optimize a production control function that provides level schedules to the manufacturing areas.

  • Optimize visual systems to provide feedback on status to schedules. Work with customers and manufacturing areas to reduce variation in demand and in production to facilitate the reduction of safety stock.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and develop logistics and inventory personnel (as applicable).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Quality, and Customer Service.

  • Support new product introductions, site expansions, and network changes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Business, or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in logistics and inventory management within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and transportation management.

  • Experience with ERP and inventory management systems.

  • Proven ability to manage vendors, budgets, and operational KPIs.

  • Extensive experience utilizing Excel including the creation of charts and formulas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing QAD ERP

  • Knowledge of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

  • Knowledge of Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT)

  • Knowledge of Free Trade Zones

  • Experience managing outsourced production and coordinating supplier logistics timing and product movement.
