Job description


We are seeking an experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Lab Technician to join our team for a major reservoir project in South Bay, Florida — conveniently located near Sunrise, Plantation, Hollywood, and Weston.

This landmark project is one of the largest infrastructure developments in Florida, and potentially the nation. As part of a high-profile Earth Dam project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this 5-year initiative offers far more than a job — it is a career-defining opportunity. Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction materials laboratory and/or field-testing experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using laboratory reporting software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Current certifications such as:
    • ACI
    • NDG
    • CTQP
    • NICET (Soils, Concrete, and/or Asphalt)

Position Summary

The CMT Lab Technician will perform routine laboratory testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other common construction materials at the project site laboratory. This position reports directly to the Lab Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform construction materials testing for concrete, soil, asphalt, and related materials, including:
    • Moisture content
    • Liquid limit and plastic limit
    • Particle density
    • Particle size distribution
    • Dry density
    • Compaction testing
  • Conduct aggregate testing including:
    • Sieve analysis
    • Percent fines passing No. 200 sieve
    • Relative density and water absorption
    • Bulk density
    • Moisture content
  • Perform concrete testing including:
    • Concrete mix design
    • Slump testing
    • Density of fresh and hardened concrete
    • Preparation and testing of concrete cylinders/cubes
    • Compressive strength testing
  • Conduct concrete pavement testing including:
    • Flexural strength
    • Modulus of rupture
    • Absorption testing
    • Bulk specific gravity
  • Execute testing procedures in accordance with applicable industry standards and quality requirements
  • Maintain accurate sample storage, tracking, logging, and disposal procedures
  • Retrieve field samples and concrete cylinders from project sites as needed
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with all safety requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
