Position Summary
The Production Scheduler & Materials Buyer is responsible for creating and maintaining production schedules that meet customer demand while ensuring the timely purchase and availability of raw materials required for manufacturing. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Supply Chain, this position coordinates schedules, material availability, and inventory to keep production running efficiently. This role plays a key part in achieving on-time customer deliveries, minimizing production interruptions, optimizing inventory, and supporting overall operational performance.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, material availability, and production capacity.
  • Source and purchase raw materials, specialty materials, and components required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and material requirements to ensure uninterrupted production while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Communicate with Production, Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Quality teams to coordinate schedules and resolve material or production constraints.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, and on-time delivery.
  • Analyze demand, supply, and production data to forecast material requirements and optimize scheduling decisions.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact production schedules, including material shortages, delivery delays, quality concerns, or capacity constraints.
  • Track purchase orders, deliveries, backorders, and inventory transactions to ensure accurate material planning.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to purchasing activity, inventory levels, supplier performance, and production scheduling metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory management, material flow, production efficiency, and cost reduction.
