The Material Handler I is responsible for the movement of various materials and products through a variety of means, including manual sorting and placement. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and accurate flow of products through the facility.

Pay Rate: $16.00 to $17.00 an hour

What You'll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for the movement of various materials and products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring safe movement of products or merchandise.
  • Reviewing products or merchandise to ensure proper placement.
  • All other duties as assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
  • Adjusting to new reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules to meet company needs and business requirements.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance at work is an essential function of this job.

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a physically demanding role that requires constant standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
  • You must be able to lift and move materials, which may be heavy, repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Requires good manual dexterity and physical stamina for tasks such as minor repairs and manual drying.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and safety alarms in a warehouse environment.

Other Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Requires adequate near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception to safely perform job duties, identify pallet defects, operate tools, read labels, and recognize workplace hazards.
  • Sense of Sound: Ability to hear horns, alarms, machinery, and verbal instructions in a potentially noisy warehouse environment.
  • Sense of Touch: Ability to use hands and fingers effectively to handle tools, fasteners, materials, and equipment with precision and control.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ability to consistently wear required PPE, including steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves, throughout the workday.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in a warehouse environment. This may include exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures (hot and cold), and moderate to high noise levels. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
