Job description

Job Title: Material Handler / Material Control Specialist

Department: Production
Reports to: Production Leadership

At TraffiCalm, we are dedicated to creating a safer world through advanced traffic safety solutions. Our products are at the intersection of technology and safety, and we are seeking a Material Handler to support our production efforts. This is a high-activity role responsible for the movement, storage, issuance, and tracking of materials using our ERP system (NetSuite), with frequent collaboration with Production and Material Control leadership.

This position may include forklift operations that can be trained and may serve as a backup for our Building 2 Material Handler. Training is available for qualified internal or external candidates.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Material Handling & Inventory:

  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming materials in designated, secure locations.
  • Collect and deliver materials to production teams to support scheduled work.
  • Issue materials to Work Orders (WO) using NetSuite.
  • Identifies and reports shortages and quality deficiencies to Materials Management
  • Palletize, shrink-wrap, and prepare materials for shipment or storage.
  • Maintain organized material layout for efficiency and accessibility.
  • Dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping to ensure a clean work environment.
  • Review shipment documentation for quality and accuracy.

Inventory & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies or shortages.
  • Assist with periodic cycle counts and physical inventory.
  • Collaborate with Production and Materials Control teams to expedite materials as needed.

Safety & Quality Assurance:

  • Adhere to all safety and quality protocols, including the use of PPE and ESD protection.
  • Report damaged or defective materials to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow all guidelines for material handling, storage, and forklift operation.

Communication:

  • Communicate clearly with team leads, supervisors, and support departments.
  • Report supply issues, damage, or delays promptly and professionally.

Additional Duties:

  • Train and support as back-up for the Building 2 Material Handler.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives or projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid forklift certification preferred (Training Available).
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience in material handling, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to warehousing and material handling.
  • Comfortable with physical labor, including counting, lifting, and organizing materials.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and dependable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments year-round.
  • Exposure to varying warehouse temperatures.
  • Operate heavy machinery with full adherence to safety protocols.

Use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, etc.) and ESD protection when required
