PROFILE SUMMARY


The Material Handler at GN Corporations plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials within the shop floor. They are responsible for the safe handling, storage, and distribution of materials to support production and maintain a well-organized work environment.


SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS


Safely transport raw materials, components, and finished products using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.

Load and unload trucks and delivery vehicles, verifying quantities and quality of materials.

Assist in the movement of materials between workstations, production areas, and storage locations.

Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.

Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in periodic physical inventory audits.

Ensure proper labeling, identification, and organization of materials within storage areas.

Inspect materials for damage, defects, or irregularities before distribution.

Follow quality control procedures to ensure that materials meet required specifications.

Maintain accurate records of material movements, including receipts, transfers, and shipments.

Work efficiently to minimize downtime and optimize material flow.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and reduce waste.

Prepare, pack, and label products for shipping in accordance with company and industry standards.

Verify the accuracy of shipping orders and inspect products for any damages or defects before shipment.

Assemble and secure crates, boxes, and containers to protect delicate or fragile items during transportation.

Maintain accurate shipping records, including tracking numbers, shipping dates, and delivery confirmations.

Coordinate with carriers and freight companies to schedule pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely shipments.

Monitor and replenish shipping supplies, such as boxes, tape, labels, and packing materials.

Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, including keeping aisles clear and disposing of shipping debris properly.

Assist with inventory management by conducting regular stock checks and reporting discrepancies.

Collaborate with the production team to prioritize orders and ensure that shipping deadlines are met.

Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the shipping area.

Report any shipping-related issues or concerns to the shipping supervisor or manager.

Assist in Production activities as required, predominantly operating a Magnesium briquetting machine and working with the Saw operator to manage the flow of Steel materials.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Occupational Health and Safety - Understanding and applying the GN Corporations Inc. Health and Safety policy as well as being responsible for his/her own health and safety at work, to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission.

Industry Standards and Regulations - Being familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices, and regulations. Monitoring self-compliance with company, industry and government requirements as well as promoting their acceptance in all aspects of GN's business-related activities.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience in material handling in a manufacturing or machine shop setting is preferred.

Valid forklift operator certification.

Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks routinely.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.

Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and data entry.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.

Operate material handling equipment safely.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.

The position may require occasional overtime and weekend work during busy periods
