About this Role - Senior Project Manager
We are looking for a talented Senior Project Manager that has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for providing oversight, coordination, management support, financial management and technical expertise for all aspects of power generation, heavy and light industrial, heavy and light commercial, refinery, mining, pulp and paper, and electrical construction projects.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with Project Managers and customers to assure crews and contractors are coordinated to work efficiently and meet contracting requirements, design, budgets, forecasts and schedules. Ensures that barriers to construction progress are removed in a timely manner
- Accountable for overall performance (scope, safety, quality, schedule, reporting, customer relations subcontractors and cost) for a portfolio of projects
- Provided forecasts and cash flows for respective projects
- Prepares project plan according to MJE methodology
- Manages Project costs, including development of recovery plans to stay within budget limits
- Tracks the invoicing and receipt of all customer payments, forecasts and cash flow for projects
- Review and updates financial forecast monthly on a regular basis
- Report project performance data as required, to management and customers
- Organize project documentation
- Develop, optimize and update project schedules for multiple, simultaneous large projects using Primavera, P6
- Accept project assignments through the project's lifecycle
- Demonstrate safety leadership by supporting the implementation and management of the MJE Safety Management System. Promote proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions. Integrate safety into project plans, establish safety goals, reinforce safety policies and procedures, support safety training, and monitor safety metrics. Support and coach supervisors and employees, provide feedback to encourage learning and create awareness, set priorities and focus on continuous improvement
- Participate in the bidding and development of a win strategy of power generation, heavy and light industrial, heavy and light commercial, refinery, mining, pulp and paper and process control instrumentation electrical construction projects
- Assist Project Managers with project scope development and project authorization through completion.
- Ensure that MJE Senior Management is kept current on the progress of construction projects, business opportunities and industry trends
- Systematically and regularly appraise and evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines and objectives. Provide assistance to Assistant Project Managers to correct deficiencies in these areas
- Understand critical design requirements of on-going projects and continuously monitor construction quality to ensure compliance within established tolerances
- Promote and develop common systems and processes to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting by Project Managers
- Delegate activities, responsibilities, and authorities, ensuring appropriate levels and assignments of accountability are defined and understood
- Assist with the development and tracking of key performance metrics
- Stay current on construction management trends and ensure Project Management personnel are informed of significant changes
- Monitor equipment type, purchases, usage, inspection, maintenance, and servicing throughout the region
What You'll Bring
- Extensive (10+) power generation, heavy and light industrial, heavy and light commercial, refinery, mining, pulp and paper and process control instrumentation electrical construction projects. Extensive project management skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects
- Knowledge, interpretation and administration of collective bargaining agreements
- Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills
- Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: contract management, scheduling, or Earned Value Management
- Strong customer service skills
- Supervisory Experience
- Ability to oversee large complex projects, portfolio of small projects or be a single point of contact for a large customer
- Willing to travel on a consistent basis to jobsites and other regional offices
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferably with a Power Distribution Option
