Job description

Material Handler And Chip Spinner

Responsible for unloading raw material shipments from delivery trucks. Will work closely with quality associates for proper paperwork and material tagging. Machine operators will also request stock for their machines. It shall be the material handler's responsibility to load material racks as needed utilizing cranes/forklifts.

Operate automatic chip crusher or semi-automatic chip spinner to spin oil or water-soluble oil from metal chips and shavings for reclamation of scrap metal and oil. Maintain a clean work area, and perform preventive maintenance as needed on processing equipment.

Job is performed in a machine shop environment, requiring heavy physical effort under dirty working conditions.

Duties

  • Operation of overhead crane and forklift's
  • Unload flatbed semi-trucks
  • Document control skills
  • Operation of chip spinning machines and maintain gravity drain hoppers.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance duties and maintains documentation.
  • Collect chip carts from production equipment and process.
  • Performs any related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of Forklift, Crane Experience Needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and other employees, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
