Job description

Job Title: Warehouse Associate

Job Description

This role focuses on safely handling materials, supporting shipping and receiving operations, and maintaining accurate inventory in a modern, clean, and highly organized warehouse environment. You will prepare products for shipment, operate various types of forklifts and material handling equipment, and work closely with assembly and logistics teams to ensure materials move efficiently through the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare products by skid, crate, or box for shipment and complete routine and standard shipping paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by promptly disposing of and properly storing materials.
  • Support assembly operations by repackaging, kitting, and staging materials as needed.
  • Safely remove and dispose of wood, plastic, metal, and other packaging materials according to standard procedures.
  • Use SAP to update storage bin information and to identify and locate materials throughout the warehouse.
  • Perform routine inspections of material handling equipment to ensure it remains in safe working condition.
  • Operate a turret truck forklift, including being lifted into the air to pick orders, following all safety procedures.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move picked orders from racks to the shipping area.
  • Spend approximately 10–20% of the shift operating forklifts (turret and sit-down) after training and certification, while performing a variety of other warehouse tasks for the remainder of the shift.
  • Transport scrap bins to the unloading area and transfer materials into dumpsters in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Unload and load trucks daily using forklifts, following established processes and safety guidelines.
  • Unload approximately 3–4 incoming trucks per day on second shift and ensure all loads are processed accurately.
  • Load an average of 2 outgoing trucks per day on second shift, ensuring orders are complete and properly secured.
  • Unload trucks according to procedure and move materials to designated areas.
  • Visually inspect incoming parts and move them to the receiving parts staging area.
  • Operate forklift trucks and/or cranes to move materials into and out of assembly work areas and finished goods storage.
  • Use RF scanners and shipping systems, such as UPS WorldShip, and prepare bills of lading as required.
  • Assist with inventory management, inventory control, order picking, and warehouse distribution activities.
  • Follow all facility safety expectations, including the use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to 5S and lean principles.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience operating sit-down or stand-up forklifts in a warehouse or material handling environment.
  • Comfort working at heights and willingness to operate very narrow aisle forklifts (stand-up turret trucks).
  • Understanding that this is a versatile warehouse role and that forklift operation will only be part of the day (approximately 10–20% of the shift).
  • Experience with material handling, shipping and receiving, warehouse distribution, packaging, inventory, and inventory control.
  • Ability to perform order picking, unloading, and production support tasks in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience using warehouse inventory systems and shipping systems, including UPS WorldShip.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for inventory management and order processing.
  • Familiarity with bills of lading and basic shipping documentation.
  • Comfort working in an environment that may have paint and oil smells.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and 5S/lean practices.
  • Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and steel toe shoes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role.
  • Experience operating a turret truck forklift in a very narrow aisle environment.
  • Experience with inventory management, inventory control, and warehouse inventory processes.
  • Familiarity with stand-up reach trucks, stand-up lifts, and turret trucks.
  • Experience working with bills of lading and paper-based inventory records.
  • Comfort working in a climate-controlled industrial environment where it may occasionally smell like paint and oil.
  • Ability to work either first shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) or second shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.), as needed.

Why Work Here?

The facility offers a highly stable and supportive environment, with many employees choosing to stay for 10–15 years and very low turnover over the past decade. The organization emphasizes safety and has achieved multiple years with no recordable injuries, reflecting a strong commitment to employee well-being. Team members receive paid breaks, adding extra value to their overall compensation. The culture is team-oriented and focused on setting people up for success, with an emphasis on effort, flexibility, and constructive feedback rather than perfection. Leadership provides direct and clear guidance while remaining understanding when occasional mistakes or attendance issues arise, as long as there is no ongoing pattern.

Work Environment

The facility is modern, very clean, and strongly driven by 5S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain), ensuring a well-organized and efficient workplace. It is well lit, climate controlled, and laid out with spacious aisles and clearly defined departments, including new production, wind service (disassembly), industrial (repairs and new builds), and logistics (shipping and receiving). Operations are lean and strategically arranged to support smooth material flow and productivity. All team members receive a company shirt and are encouraged to wear jeans or pants that they do not mind getting dirty, even though the environment is generally clean. Safety standards are exceptionally high, with a long record of working without lost time injuries or recordable incidents. Safety glasses and steel toe shoes are mandatory at all times and are non-negotiable. Work is performed on first shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) or second shift (2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.), and employees receive two paid 20-minute breaks per shift. The environment may have occasional smells of paint and oil due to the nature of the work, but remains orderly, safe, and highly structured.
