Description:

POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD

  • The Material Expediter executes the following:
  1. Locates and moves materials and parts between work areas of plant to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules and priorities, and keeps related record
  2. Reviews production schedules inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders
  3. Confers with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials
  4. Locates and moves materials to specified production areas, using cart or hand truck
  5. Records quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand
  • Work may include the following tasks:
  1. Directing Power-Truck Operator or Material Handling Laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas
  2. Compare work ticket specifications with material at workstations to verify appropriateness of material in use
  3. Prepare worker production records and timecards
  4. May update and maintain inventory records, using computer terminal.
Requirements:
  • Minimum education: High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred education: Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, business or a related field
  • Minimum experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in materials handling, logistics, supply chain, warehousing, inventory control, or production support
  • Other key skills and qualifications:
  1. experience tracking and expediting materials according to schedules
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel and word) and ERP systems
  3. Ability to read production schedules, determine material needs and resolve shortages/ delays
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  5. Knowledge of safety practices and basic supply chain processes
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
