How much do matchmaking jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 14, 2026, the average yearly pay for matchmaking in Dallas, TX is $80,922.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $62,300.00 and $89,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a matchmaker?

To thrive as a Matchmaker, you need strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of relationship dynamics, and experience in counseling or psychology, often supported by relevant training or certifications. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software and online dating platforms is typically valuable. Exceptional communication, empathy, and discretion help build trust with clients and facilitate meaningful connections. These skills are crucial for successfully matching clients, maintaining client satisfaction, and building a reputable matchmaking practice.

What are the most common challenges faced by matchmakers, and how can they be addressed?

Professional matchmakers often encounter challenges such as balancing client expectations, navigating sensitive personal information, and maintaining confidentiality. Clients may have specific, sometimes unrealistic, criteria, requiring matchmakers to guide them toward more open-minded approaches. Additionally, fostering trust and managing disappointment if matches do not lead to successful relationships are key parts of the job. Strong communication skills, empathy, and a structured vetting process help address these challenges and ensure a positive experience for both clients and matchmakers.

What is the difference between Matchmaking vs Recruiter?

AspectMatchmaking
Primary RoleConnecting clients with compatible service providers or partners based on personal or professional criteria
Work EnvironmentOften involves personalized consultations, relationship building, and matching based on preferences
Required CredentialsTypically no formal certifications; skills in communication, relationship management, and understanding client needs
Industry UsageUsed in dating, luxury services, and niche professional networks

Recruiters focus on sourcing candidates for job openings by screening resumes and conducting interviews, primarily within HR and staffing industries. Matchmaking centers on pairing individuals or clients with suitable service providers or partners based on compatibility, often in personal or niche markets. While both roles involve connecting people, recruiters are more focused on employment placement, whereas matchmaking emphasizes relationship compatibility.

What is matchmaking?

Matchmaking as a job involves helping individuals find compatible partners for romantic relationships, friendships, or even business connections. Professional matchmakers use various methods, such as interviews, personality assessments, and databases, to understand their clients' preferences and values. They then curate introductions and facilitate meetings, offering guidance and support throughout the process. Matchmaking can be done independently or as part of an agency and often involves a personalized and confidential approach.

Job description

Know where you belong!
Match Group is a leading provider of dating products across the globe. Our portfolio includes Tinder, Hinge, Match, Meetic, PlentyOfFish, OkCupid, The League, HER, and others, each designed to spark meaningful connections for singles worldwide. Creating a sense of belonging doesn't stop at our products - it's the foundation of every team we hire.

When it comes to dating, the connection starts online, but the real magic happens once you meet in real life (IRL).  We think the same is true for creating the best platforms, so we work together IRL 3 days/week.

Every month, millions of people come to Match Group's apps to make connections that embrace their sense of identity, purpose, and community. Our Evergreen & Emerging (E&E) division is home to brands like Match, Meetic, OkCupid, and Plenty of Fish, plus a fast-growing set of identity-led apps including BLK, Chispa, Upward, and Salams.

We're hiring a Lead Product Manager to drive product vision and strategy across E&E brands like Upward and BLK. We're looking for an imaginative product leader who can turn deep understandings of specific audiences and their needs into distinctive, compelling experiences. It's a player-coach role: you'll lead a team of product managers, shape end-to-end experiences across iOS and Android, and stay hands-on in execution. You'll partner with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, Finance, and Trust & Safety to build distinctive experiences that drive user growth, retention, and revenue.

This role is expected to based in our Dallas, TX office 3 days/week. If you are not based in Dallas, we will be offering relocation assistance for this position.
How you'll make an impact:
  • Define and lead product vision, strategy, and roadmap across E&E experiences, aligned to company goals of user growth, engagement, and revenue

  • Drive product-led growth, owning key metrics including MAU growth, retention, payer conversion, and subscription and a la carte performance

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of product managers, setting a high bar for craft, analytical rigor, and executional excellence

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Brand to deliver high-quality product experiences and drive cohesive strategy and execution across the product lifecycle

  • Leverage the shared E&E platform to ship efficiently, while identifying where individual brands need differentiated, community-first experiences

  • Use data, experimentation, and user insights to inform decisions, prioritize opportunities, and measure impact - breaking big bets into testable milestones and pivoting based on what you learn

  • Champion a customer-first mindset, deeply understanding the needs of the diverse communities our brands serve

  • Balance business objectives with community trust and safety, ensuring a respectful, inclusive, and high-integrity user experience

  • Establish and evolve product processes and operating rhythms that enable efficient, high-quality product development

  • Identify and evaluate new product opportunities, partnerships, and innovations to expand our impact and reach

We could be a match if:
  • You have 7+ years of product management experience building and scaling high-volume consumer mobile products

  • You have 2+ years of experience directly managing and developing product managers

  • You have experience leading subscription-based or otherwise monetized consumer products

  • You have a strong track record of driving measurable growth across user engagement, retention, and revenue

  • You are highly data-driven, with experience using analytics and experimentation to guide decisions and de-risk big bets

  • You are both strategic and hands-on - comfortable setting vision while also diving into execution details

  • You excel at cross-functional leadership, influencing and aligning stakeholders across multiple disciplines and leadership teams

  • You bring strong product intuition and UX sensibility, with a deep understanding of what makes great consumer experiences

  • You communicate clearly and succinctly in writing and in person, especially with cross-functional partners and leadership

  • You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can balance competing priorities effectively

  • You have empathy for the diverse communities our products serve, and are motivated by our mission to help people make meaningful connections

What's the Team Like:
  • You'll lead a cross-functional product team and partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Brand, and the broader E&E organization

  • E&E operates as a nimble, mission-driven division within Match Group, combining startup energy with global scale and shared platform leverage

  • The team is highly collaborative, with a strong focus on impact, ownership, and continuous learning

  • Success in this role means building a high-performing team, delivering meaningful product outcomes, and driving sustained growth across the portfolio

$154,000 - $170,000 a year

Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of Dallas,TX. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

  • Better Together: We keep connection at the heart of dating and at the heart of how we work. Just as our users are better when they connect with others, so are we when we collaborate.
  • Real Talk: We say the hard thing the human way. Just as we ask our users to behave with kindness and candor in our community, we expect all of us to do the same.
  • Safety First: We act with integrity, transparency, and consistency so people feel safe-whether they're swiping, matching, or working alongside us.
  • Spark Fun: We have fun to unlock creativity, fuel innovation, and help us build better experiences for daters.

f you require a reasonable accommodation to participate in the hiring process - such as during pre-employment testing or interviews - please indicate this by selecting "Yes" in the accommodation request field. We'll reach out to discuss your needs if you're selected for the interview stage.
