ABOUT THE POSITION The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Project Management Office seeks a motivated and detail-oriented student intern to gain practical experience supporting public infrastructure projects, operational initiatives, facilities management, and government administration. The position provides hands-on exposure to public-sector project management and County operations while supporting capital improvement and facilities-related projects.

The in-person student internship position offers a flexible work week consisting of approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility granted around academic obligations. The selected candidates can anticipate the internship to be two years in length. Incumbents within the Temporary Assistant - Professional Student Intern classification are distinguished from regular County employees in that their employment is temporary, exempt from the County merit system, Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) as well as most County-provided employee benefits, and serve in an "At-Will" status.

As such, the incumbent may be terminated from service at any time, without notice, cause, or rights of appeal. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; Through participation, receive supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation, and performs other related duties as required. The intern will be responsible for, but not limited to: Assist project managers with project planning and scheduling, Assist with research, data analysis, documentation and stakeholder coordination, Provide meeting support, procurement processes, contract administration, budgeting, compliance activities, and operational improvement initiatives.

The intern should expect to gain hands-on experience with: Public-sector project management Facilities management and construction coordination Government budgeting and fiscal oversight Procurement and contract administration Strategic planning and operational coordination Public infrastructure planning Administrative policy implementation Regulatory compliance Interdepartmental collaboration Stakeholder communication Data analysis and operational reporting Process improvement initiatives MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average: 2.5 GPA required. Education: Applicants must be currently enrolled/attending school at an accredited college or university in a Bachelor's or Graduate degree program

Areas of Study: Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Organizational Leadership, Public Affairs, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Minimum Qualifications: Strong written and verbal communication skills, teamwork and collaboration Problem-solving and analytical thinking Organizational and time-management skills Desired Qualifications: Coursework in government budgeting, procurement, policy analysis, organizational management, or public administration Current enrollment in or completion of a Master of Public Administration (MPA), Public Policy, Public Affairs, Organizational Leadership, or related graduate MBA program preferred. Knowledge of local government operations or public works Familiarity with public-sector procurement, contract administration, and compliance Experience conducting policy research, operational analysis, or program evaluation Strong report writing and presentation skills Ability to interpret contracts, administrative procedures, and government documentation All applicants are required to include a resume and most recent unofficial/official transcript.
