What you will do:

  • Be a trusted advisor tomiddle marketand Fortune 500 clients by providing strategic state and local tax consulting services that lower their tax rates, ensure theyare in complianceand provide value across the spectrum of state and local taxes. This includes:

  • Research state tax issues including nexus determinations, taxabilityanalysesand quantification of potential liabilities

  • Respond to notices issued by state and local taxingjurisdictions

  • Work with multi-state companies to provide guidance on state and local tax controversies, including research and preparing written protests

  • Assistwith due diligence and voluntary disclosure projects

  • Prepare memoranda on state and local tax issues for individuals, corporations,partnershipsand LLCs

  • Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns for variousjurisdictionsfor multiple clients

  • Interact and manage multiple clients in a deadline-oriented environment whilemaintainingexceptional accuracy and attention to detail

  • Analyzelarge amountsof client data

  • Maintain internal relationships with colleagues, other servicelinesand engagement/project teams

  • Develop andretaintechnical taxexpertise

  • Proactivelyidentifyand communicate issues as they arise

  • Maintain a positive and "team player" attitude

  • Become familiar with and adhere to the firm's policies and procedures

  • Apply a working knowledge of various computer applications

Qualifications


Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's or master'sdegree in accounting or law, or a related degree in business, with sufficient course work and credits to sit for the CPA and/or Bar exam in the state you are being considered

  • Outstanding academic performance required, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above

  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving

  • Strong leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills, initiative, adaptability

  • Microsoft Suite skills

  • There is currently no immigration sponsorship available for this position

  • Must be a current Summer 2026 Baker Tilly Intern

The pay rate ranges for this position are listed below. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.

In Washington: pay rate range is $80,500 to $110,610

In California: pay rate range is $78,000 to $100,950

In Tewksbury, MA: pay rate range is $78,000 to $100,950

The national pay rate range is $63,200 to $119,820
