Your Contribution
At Newmont, you will help drive the growth of our global exploration portfolio by identifying, evaluating, and advancing strategic exploration opportunities around the world. This role combines technical geological expertise, commercial awareness, and strategic thinking to assess acquisitions, joint ventures, and greenfield opportunities that support Newmont's long-term growth strategy.
As part of our team, you will
  • Identify, assess, and evaluate global exploration opportunities, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
  • Conduct technical, economic, and sustainability-based evaluations of exploration assets and projects.
  • Monitor and maintain knowledge of high-potential gold exploration opportunities within assigned geographic regions.
  • Support development and maintenance of a global exploration opportunities database and market intelligence platform.
  • Perform desktop and field reviews of exploration properties, target areas, and early-stage projects.
  • Assist in prioritizing exploration opportunities and advancing the global exploration pipeline.
  • Develop and refine mineral systems and gold framework studies to support future growth strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to assess jurisdictional, technical, commercial, and sustainability risks.
  • Build relationships with industry peers, government agencies, and junior exploration companies.
  • Support investment committee materials, business cases, budgets, forecasts, and executive presentations.

Prerequisites for your success in this role
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degree such as M.Sc., MBA, or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience in mineral exploration, resource development, mining, or geological evaluation.
  • Knowledge of mineral systems, resource development, and exploration project evaluation.
  • Experience conducting technical assessments of exploration projects across various geological environments.
  • Understanding of commercial evaluations, budgets, forecasts, and business case development.
  • Ability to compile and interpret geological, technical, and market intelligence datasets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting technical information to varied audiences.
  • Experience engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • English fluency required; additional languages are considered an asset.

  • Individual contributor role within the Global Exploration Opportunities team.
  • Collaborative global environment partnering with exploration, geoscience, technical, finance, legal, sustainability, and strategic planning teams.
  • Frequent interaction with external exploration partners, mining companies, government organizations, and research institutions.
  • Domestic and international travel required.

  • The preferred location for candidates is near our corporate headquarters, in Denver, Colorado; however highly qualified candidates near our regional offices, or any of our site locations, will be considered.
  • The listed salary range applies to positions based in Colorado. Compensation may vary for candidates hired in other locations.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $106,200- 141,600. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
