Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for Part-Time Instructors for fall 2025. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach courses delivered by the Department of Kinesiology.
The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced level courses delivered by the Department of Kinesiology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teach face-to-face and/or online, attend training and/or review sessions. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, academic advising, student organization support, participation in program development and assessment. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Kinesiology offers programs of study to prepare undergraduate students for careers in a variety sports, fitness, and recreation environments that focus on promoting health for all people. The Kinesiology curriculum leads to a Bachelor of Science degree that will prepare students to apply the knowledge and skills needed to conduct and interpret assessments of health and fitness, determine safe and effective exercise programming, and gain applicable experience through clinical and business industry internships.
Through the integration of high-quality instruction, research, and community engagement activities, faculty scholars are leading interdisciplinary initiatives that address pressing health concerns of our society such as:

  • sports management and recreation
  • health promotion in athletic, active, and sedentary populations
  • prevention of chronic disease through exercise and stress-reduction techniques
  • racial health disparities in cardiovascular and metabolic health

CONCENTRATIONS
There are two concentrations in the Department of Kinesiology:
Exercise Science and Recreation & Sports Management. Exercise Science concentration students take additional courses in sports nutrition, fitness across the lifespan, exercise pharmacology, pathophysiology and exercise, and preparation for certification exams.
Recreation & Sports Management concentration students take additional courses in sport and recreation facilities management, sport and recreation marketing, management operations in sport and exercise, and sport and recreation finance.

Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a Master's of Science degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science with a clear specialization in Exercise Science. At least two years of experience teaching at the University or Community College level.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
PhD with Scientific background; 3-5 years teaching experience at the University or Community College level and with background in strength and conditioning are preferred. Preferred - CSCS, EP-C, RCEP or equivalents.
Required License or Certification
