Job Summary
Position is responsible for providing fitness assessments, floor monitoring, personal training sessions, and group exercise classes to new and established patients of the Wellness Center.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Two (2) years class work towards Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field.
Licenses/Certifications: Ability to obtain ACE, PFIT, or equivalent locally approved certification within six (6) months of employment.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • One (1) year fitness training experience.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Conducts fitness assessments and exercise orientation sessions for new patients.
  • Provides floor-monitoring services: palpating heart rate, recording blood pressure and educating members about personal exercise programs. Directs patients to other Wellness Center programs and services, when appropriate.
  • Develops comprehensive individual exercise programs according to the participant's needs, focusing on: warm-up, muscular skeletal stimulus, cardiovascular programming, flexibility, and cool down.
  • Leads group exercise classes in the areas of strength, endurance, and aerobic activities.
  • Provides excellent customer service by responding to patients' requests in a professional manner. Identifies opportunities to increase member retention levels, by proactively providing information on Wellness Center programs and services.
  • Conducts equipment care and maintenance by cleaning and lubricating exercise equipment.
  • Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
