Job description

Academic Course Instruction in the following Undergraduate and Graduate Sport & Exercise Sciences programs: Sport & Exercise Sciences and Movement Sciences. Sport & Exercise Sciences are part of a liberal education and are gleaned from traditional parent disciplines in the humanities; biological, behavioral, and sociological sciences; and the arts. We engage in top quality education based upon critical and independent thinking that facilitates young professionals to become successful in their chosen fields upon graduation. We facilitate sport and exercise sciences content and experiential growth in each student through the development of confidence and competence while offering the appeal of a small private University. We strive to fulfill our social responsibility by facilitating collaborative partnerships that benefit Barry University, faculty and students, and our fields of study.

Adjuncts instructors are responsible for course instruction in all Sport & Exercise Sciences programs. The applicant is required to have the effective skills to teach the courses and labs.

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for collaborating with respective academic coordinators and directors in the instruction and delivery of the course as well as additional responsibilities outlined in the faculty handbook.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum
  • Prepare and distribute course outline/syllabi to students
  • Teach course sections
  • Maintain accurate attendance records
  • Use teaching and learning strategies that optimize student performance and interest
  • Conduct assessments
  • Comply with department and School policies, grading, and procedures
  • Use of SharePoint, Canvas, and WebAdvisor

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required in the discipline for which the person is applying. A Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree is preferred.
  • Applicant must be capable (prior experience) of teaching in a group setting.
  • Applicant must have excellent communication skills.
  • Applicant must have the ability to work well with students, staff and Faculty.
