Inova Health System is expanding our Women's Health services and we are seeking an outstanding Certified Nurse Midwife!
This versatile position includes working both in an OB/GYN office outpatient setting providing exceptional reproductive health care to women, and in the hospital managing labor, performing OB deliveries and rounding on patients.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has completed a certified Masters or Doctoral Degree Program in Midwifery and has successfully passed the National Midwifery Certification Exam. This candidate will also be a great team player, flexible, and experienced in full scope obstetric and gynecologic care. In your role as a Certified Nurse Midwife, you will be working in a collaborative practice setting building your own patient base while working with Inova employed OB/GYN physicians.

Certified Nurse Midwife Job Responsibilities:
  • Full-scope practice
  • OB care for low to moderate risk patients
  • Hospital labor management, triage, and rounding
  • Deliveries
  • Annual well-women and low complexity GYN appointments
  • Initiation and maintenance of contraception including IUDs and implantable contraception
  • Collaborate with physicians in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
  • Postpartum care
  • Preventative women's health care
  • Menopause care

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start; Current Nurse Midwifery Certification
  • Licensure: Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
  • Payor Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is strongly preferred.
