Job Description:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Operational Excellence & Strategic Leadership

  • Direct daily operations of the endoscopy unit, including pre-op, procedure rooms, and post-op recovery.
  • Optimize patient scheduling, room turnover, and workflow efficiency to maximize department capacity.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans aligned with organization goals.
  • Establish, review, and update departmental policies, procedures, and evidence-based protocols.

2. Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain full readiness for regulatory inspections (e.g., The Joint Commission, CMS, AAAHC).
  • Oversee strict compliance with infection control and high-level disinfection (HLD) standards for scopes.
  • Lead departmental Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction scores, and implement corrective actions as needed.

3. Financial & Resource Management

  • Formulate, monitor, and manage the annual operational and capital budgets.
  • Analyze financial variances and implement cost-containment strategies without compromising care.
  • Oversee supply chain management, inventory levels, and specialized vendor contracts.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and instrument purchases.

4. Human Resource Management

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, retain, and mentor clinical and administrative personnel.
  • Manage staffing grids, scheduling, and productivity metrics to align with patient volume.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, open communication, safety, and professional growth.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.

5. Medical Staff & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Partner with the Medical Director of Endoscopy and GI physicians to align clinical practices.
  • Collaborate with Anesthesia, Pathology, Central Sterile Processing, and Material Management.
  • Act as the primary liaison between department staff, executive leadership, and physicians.

Requirements:

Education

  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or Business (MBA).

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare management or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an Endoscopy Unit, GI Lab, or Surgical/OR setting.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Preferred: Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) or Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).

Skills & Core Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of SGNA, ASGE, AORN, and AMMI standards for endoscope reprocessing.
  • Strong financial acumen with proven experience managing P&L and capital equipment requests.
  • Exceptional leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and data-driven quality tracking software.
