JOB TITLE:
Animal Science Multi-omic Lab Technician
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
Animal Science Department
Job location: Animal Science Building
Pay rate or range: $14/hr.
JOB PURPOSE:
A position designed to build experience in applied and basic research in Animal Science. Students will assist in the efforts of the Hollinger lab which can span from applied bench-top research to hands-on ruminant livestock research and data collection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will assist with current graduate and undergraduate research programs in the lab which may include laboratory work, field work, data sorting, and/or data analysis depending on interest and skill level. Applicant must be willing to lend a hand in any of the mentioned areas and expect to have duties in the lab and with livestock at LREC. No prior experience is required but would be welcome in the areas of DNA/RNA isolation, next-generation sequencing and analysis, livestock handling and management, and large-data organization.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently enrolled student at UW.
Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Lab experience.
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS:
Provides hands-on experience in research, laboratory and field work, livestock handling, data management, and analysis, preparing students for careers in animal science, biotechnology, research, and related fields.
