Job description

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY โ€“

Three Rivers Alliance of Community Health Centers (TRACHC) is seeking a motivated recent graduate/Masters candidate to gain hands-on experience in the administration of a federally qualified health center (FQHC). The intern will work directly under the supervision of the TRACHC President (who also serves as the CEO of North Side Christian Health Center) and collaborate with executive leaders across the organization. This is a unique opportunity to observe and participate in the full scope of health center operations.

Dates: Approximately June 8 โ€“ August 7, 2025

Hours: 200 hours total โ€“ specific days/hours per week can be negotiated to accommodate your schedule

Wage: $15/hour ($3000). This is a 1099 position. You will not be an employee of TRACHC or NSCHC

Location: On-site at North Side Christian Health Center (NSCHC)

816 Middle Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212

Off-site: Off-site locations may include the sites of other TRACHC members, and

some community outreach activities

RESPONSIBILITIES / AREAS OF ENGAGEMENT โ€“

The intern will assist executive leadership with a variety of projects and initiatives, which may include:

  • Community and patient outreach โ€“ supporting initiatives to engage and education the community on federally qualified health centers
  • Fundraising research โ€“ identifying grant opportunities, foundations, and funding sources relevant to TRACHC's and its members' missions
  • Human Resources โ€“ assisting with recruitment and employee engagement activities
  • Policy development โ€“ contributing to the drafting, review, and cataloging of organizational policies
  • Financial analysis โ€“ supporting review of financial reports of the organization
  • Performance evaluation โ€“ assisting with quality improvement and operational performance initiatives
  • Strengthening the administrative infrastructure by building and organizational past and current documents on an accessible platform for all members

The intern may also have opportunities to:

  • Attend TRACHC and or health center Board of Directors meetings and gain exposure to nonprofit governance
  • Interact with locally elected officials and high-profile community stakeholders

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES โ€“

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

QUALIFICATIONS โ€“

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field, required.
  • Currently accepted or enrolled in an accredited Masters in Health Administration (MHA) program or a related field, preferred.

Upon internship offer, candidate will be required to obtain:

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Check
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF INTERNSHIP โ€“

TRACHC will provide documentation of the number of hours completed and the projects and deliverables achieved during the internship. This documentation may be used to satisfy graduate program internship or practicum requirements.
