Position Summary
The SVP, Software Engineering - Sales & Acquisition Platforms is responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy for cardmember acquisition, onboarding, and decisioning platforms. This role will drive modernization of legacy systems to cloud-native, API-first architectures that improve speed to market, scalability, and customer experience.
This role leads multiple engineering teams, establishes architecture and delivery standards, and partners with Product, Risk, Marketing, and Operations to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions that support the company's growth objectives. The SVP will also contribute to enterprise technology planning, manage large program budgets, and build a high-performing engineering organization focused on measurable outcomes.
Essential Job Functions
  • Define and execute the technology roadmap for Sales & Acquisition platforms aligned to business strategy
  • Lead modernization from legacy systems to cloud-native, microservices-based architectures
  • Build, scale, and mentor high-performing engineering teams and leaders
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards for security, scalability, observability, and reliability
  • Partner with business stakeholders to deliver cardmember acquisition, onboarding, and decisioning capabilities
  • Drive faster, higher-quality delivery through DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and platform reuse
  • Oversee architecture reviews, technical design, and governance processes
  • Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and manage key vendor relationships
  • Manage large technology programs, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Define and track KPIs to improve time-to-market, platform performance, and developer productivity
  • Contribute to enterprise technology strategy and executive planning
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 12+ years of progressive software engineering experience with at least 5 years leading large, distributed engineering organizations
  • Proven track record modernizing legacy platforms in regulated environments
  • 5+ years of experience delivering cloud-native, API-driven platforms at scale (AWS, GCP, or similar)
  • Strong background in digital customer acquisition, onboarding, or customer-facing platforms
  • Experience managing large programs, budgets, and vendor strategies
  • Strong architectural leadership across microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and modern data platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into technology execution
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills

Preferred
  • Financial services or fintech industry experience
  • Knowledge of credit decisioning, fraud, underwriting, or marketing technology platforms
  • Experience with pre-qualification, offer management, or line management systems
  • Familiarity with Pega or similar decisioning/workflow platforms
  • Master's degree (MBA or MS) in a related field
