Job description

General Description of Position:

Drills holes in decks, hulls, liners, fenders, seats, and small parts. Grinds away excess fiberglass so that parts fit together during assembly. Grinds lip off all liners. Transports finished parts to rigging.


Duties (Essential):

Drills holes in decks, hulls and liners so that boats can be rigged. Cuts excess fiberglass away so that all parts fit together when boats are rigged. Checks to see if deck and hull fit. Essential – 80%

Transports hulls to rigging for assembly (Glass I); transports parts to QA (Glass II). Essential – 10%


Duties (Non-Essential): Performs related duties as assigned. Nonessential – 5%

Education & Work Experience: Previous grinding experience preferred. Must be able to read and understand instructions. Must be able to use various hand tools, including grinder, drill and saw.


Environmental and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation. Must have effective eyesight. Normal duties include reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including helmet, respirator, hearing protection and grinding suit.


Skills & Aptitudes:

Language skills - Able to understand spoken instructions with regard to job training and safety concerns and the ability to speak conversational English.


Reasoning skills - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed finishing of all products. Ability to deal with changes related to equipment use and productivity.
