Niyam is seeking a Scrum Master to join our team in support of our work with a federal client. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This hybrid role combines Agile leadership with requirements analysis to ensure mission-critical applications are delivered on time, aligned with stakeholder needs, and compliant with federal standards. The successful candidate will facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, coach teams on Agile best practices, and serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to capture, refine, and manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This position is hybrid, with 2-3 days/week onsite to client location in Ashburn, VA. This position is associated with a proposal submission and is contingent upon contract award. Candidates selected through this process may be considered for employment should the contract be awarded to our organization.


Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives) to drive transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate Scrum artifacts, including product backlogs, sprint backlogs, release plans, and burndown metrics.
  • Remove obstacles, blockers, and distractions that hinder delivery, escalating when necessary to maintain momentum.
  • Coach and mentor Scrum team members and stakeholders in Agile frameworks, ensuring consistent adoption of best practices within a federal environment.
  • Gather, document, and validate business and system requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to accurately represent mission and technical needs.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, technical leads, and stakeholders to refine backlog items and prioritize delivery based on mission impact.
  • Maintain accurate records of application modifications, configuration changes, and release documentation.
  • Support compliance with federal security, governance, and documentation requirements, ensuring deliverables align with agency standards (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA as applicable).
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams, business users, and program stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.


Requirements:

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain CBP BI
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM), SAFe Scrum Master, PMI-ACP
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master and/or Business Analyst in federal IT projects.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) with the ability to adapt practices within a government environment.
  • Demonstrated experience eliciting, documenting, and managing functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Knowledge of federal IT project management frameworks, security controls, or compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP) preferred.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Agile lifecycle management tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
