Job Summary/Basic Function:
The School of Social Sciences and International Studies (SoSSIS) at Wright State University (WSU) invites applications for tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 2027. The teaching load is focused on the Master of Public Administration program within the College of Liberal Arts. This faculty member will develop and regularly teach courses in public administration, with special emphasis on local government and the management of cities, to serve graduate course in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. This faculty member will also be expected to build out the program's online and hybrid course offerings. In addition, it is expected that this faculty member will contribute to related undergraduate programs within the School of Social Sciences and International Studies.
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Wright State University is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA). The program currently has four elective tracks: General, Criminal Justice, Social Issues, and Community Health. Successful candidates will be required to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as conduct scholarly research, advise students and engage in service activities.
Minimum Qualifications
• An earned doctorate in Public Administration, or a closely related field anticipated by the start date.
• Teaching experience in higher education
• Scholarship in public administration or related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching experience at the graduate level
• Experience developing online courses and programs
• Interest in developing interdisciplinary coursework
• Expertise in geographic information system (GIS), non-profit studies, public writing and communication, ethics in public service, civic literacy, or AI and data analytics
• Ability to raise external grant dollars
