Magnetic Component Engineering ("MCE"), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies ("Dexter"), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees.

Position Summary:
The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the master production plan and detailed production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels and ensuring efficient use of plant capacity. This role plans and schedules all work orders to support sales order requirements, monitors schedule adherence, and drives on-time delivery performance.
The Master Production Scheduler develops monthly and rolling three-month production plans based on sales forecasts, customer demand, new business opportunities, inventory targets, safety stock requirements, and internal capacity constraints. The position is responsible for building capacity plans and production schedules that guide operational execution while maintaining appropriate levels of work-in-process and finished goods inventory.
Serving as the primary liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Key Account Managers, Operations, and Management, the Master Production Scheduler ensures alignment between customer expectations and manufacturing capabilities. The role also has primary responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the MRP and Epicor Scheduling systems, providing critical planning data and visibility to support business objectives. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule to meet customer demand while optimizing capacity, inventory, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and manage rolling production plans using forecasts, customer requirements, capacity, material availability, and business objectives.
  • Perform capacity planning and supply-demand analysis to identify constraints, risks, and resource requirements; implement mitigation plans as needed.
  • Establish Available-to-Promise (ATP) dates and delivery commitments based on capacity, inventory, and material availability.
  • Manage inventory strategies for finished goods, WIP, and safety stock to support service levels and inventory performance goals.
  • Monitor schedule performance, identify risks, and drive corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery and schedule adherence. Track and report key production, inventory, and service metrics, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability and production readiness.
  • Support the SIOP process through demand planning, capacity analysis, inventory management, and production plan alignment.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Management to align production plans with customer expectations and business priorities.
  • Maintain ERP/MRP planning data, including BOMs, routings, planning parameters, and capacity assumptions.
  • Lead production planning meetings, communicate priorities, resolve constraints, and drive execution.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Master Scheduling, Production Planning, Inventory Control, or Supply Chain Planning within a manufacturing environment; 7-10 years preferred. Demonstrated ability to balance customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and inventory objectives in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume and/or make-to-order manufacturing environments strongly preferred, with CNC machining or multi-step manufacturing process experience considered a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems required; Epicor ERP experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, master scheduling principles, capacity planning, inventory management, safety stock strategies, reorder point planning, and Kanban replenishment systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills, including data analysis, reporting, forecasting, charting, and formula development.
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.

Targeted Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000 + bonus
