Job description

Master Scheduler

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining a level-loaded Master Production Schedule (MPS) for all production requirements, including the components and subassemblies required for finished products.

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that all requirements are accurately represented in a realistic, achievable production plan that supports customer delivery commitments and established production targets. The Planner / Master Scheduler works closely with Materials, Production, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Manufacturing to ensure the plan is achievable and continuously updated.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a Master Production Schedule that provides a realistic and achievable plan for all firm requirements while supporting customer delivery commitments.
  • Review and analyze customer demand against internal capacity, production constraints, material availability, and workflow.
  • Create, release, and align work orders to support production requirements and delivery commitments.
  • Perform rough-cut and detailed capacity analysis to identify constraints, bottlenecks, and potential schedule risks.
  • Routinely review and maintain planning parameters within the MPS/MRP system to ensure accurate and effective planning.
  • Support inventory management and inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining appropriate material availability.
  • Lead weekly and monthly production planning meetings to review the Master Production Schedule, production rates, capacity, constraints, and delivery requirements.
  • Work closely with Production Control to maintain realistic, accurate, and up-to-date schedules at the work-center level and ensure daily production schedules are achieved.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Production Control, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues that could impact the production plan.
  • Monitor schedule performance, identify risks and variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field; or
  • 7+ years of experience in a complex manufacturing environment with multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs).
