Job Summary

The Master Paint Protection Film (PPF) Installer is responsible for delivering exceptional Paint Protection Film installations that meet the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. This position serves as the company's subject-matter expert on paint protection film, ceramic coatings, and surface protection solutions, while mentoring and overseeing other installers to ensure consistent workmanship and adherence to company standards.

The Master Paint Protection Film Installer plays a critical role in establishing The Speed Collection and its companies as the premier destination for automotive paint protection. This individual sets the standard for craftsmanship, develops future installers, continuously improves installation processes, and ensures every vehicle leaves the shop reflecting the company's commitment to excellence. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform expert-level Paint Protection Film (PPF) installations on a wide range of vehicles, including complex panels and full-vehicle wraps.
  • Execute installations with exceptional precision while maintaining company standards for quality, appearance, and longevity.
  • Conduct final quality inspections on completed PPF installations and ensure all vehicles meet company expectations before delivery.
  • Diagnose and resolve installation challenges while maintaining efficient workflow and minimizing material waste.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise less experienced PPF installers, providing hands-on instruction, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of craftsmanship, continuous improvement, accountability, and pride in workmanship by setting the standard for quality and professionalism within the installation team.
  • Develop and maintain standardized installation procedures and best practices to ensure consistency across the team.
  • Collaborate with the detailing department to prepare vehicles for installation and coordinate post-installation finishing procedures.
  • Serve as the in-house expert on Paint Protection Film, ceramic coatings, paint correction, and related surface protection technologies.
  • Educate and support the sales team on product features, installation methods, package options, pricing considerations, and customer value propositions.
  • Partner with the sales team to provide technical guidance on unique customer requests, and occasionally assist with client consultations when advanced expertise is needed.
  • Represent The Speed Collection professionally during customer interactions by educating clients on paint protection film, ceramic coatings, product care, and maintenance while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Maintain inventory levels, monitor product usage, minimize waste, and proactively communicate ordering needs to avoid production delays.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Stay current on new installation techniques, products, and industry advancements.
  • Assist with detailing, ceramic coating installations, and other appearance protection services as business needs require.
  • Diagnose and perform warranty repairs or replacement installations as needed while identifying root causes to improve installation quality.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Master-level knowledge of Paint Protection Film installation techniques, materials, and finishing methods.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ceramic coatings, paint correction, and automotive surface preparation; expert level preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to producing flawless work.
  • Ability to inspect work critically and maintain uncompromising quality standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time professional Paint Protection Film installation experience.
  • Extensive experience installing partial front, full front, track packages, and complete vehicle wraps.
  • Extensive experience with plotters and their related software; willingness to be trained on additional software as needed.
  • Professional experience with ceramic coating installation and advanced paint correction preferred.
  • Previous experience training or supervising installers strongly preferred.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license required.
  • Must be willing to complete a work sample interview to demonstrate installation skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time standing.
  • Must be able to visually inspect vehicle surfaces to identify imperfections and verify installation quality.
  • Must be able to work safely in a shop environment with noise, chemicals, and odors present while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, crouching, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to comply with all company policies and uphold the highest standards for craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
