Job description

Wyoming Valley Behavioral Health is currently seeking to fill the position of a full time Addictions Counselor.  The Counselor is responsible for providing psychoeducational lectures, workshops and activities centered on addiction and recovery topics, as well as facilitating group therapy and individual counseling sessions.  Two years of experience in addiction counseling, psychoeducation, or related field. 


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging psychoeducational lectures and workshops on addiction, recovery, coping strategies and related topics

  • Create and implement activities that enhance understanding of addiction and promote recovery among patients.

  • Lead group therapy sessions to provide support, encouragement and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions to assess client needs, develop personalized treatment plans and monitor progress.

  • Perform comprehensive assessments to identify clients substance use issues and related challenges.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field

    Qualifications:

  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor required

  • Two or more years of experience in addiction counseling, psychoeducation or related field

  • Completion of DDAP approved ASAM training (Train for Change, The Change Companies, ASAM E-Learning Modules) preferred
