The Department of Political Science at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will have broad training in political theory. Candidates with expertise in democratic theory and citizenship/civic engagement are especially welcome to apply. We also welcome applications from candidates who can teach one or more courses that address non-Western and/or subaltern perspectives on democratic theory and citizenship. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the department's introductory political theory course as well as courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level in the candidate's areas of specialization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate (MA) courses. Teaching duties include a 3-2 teaching load for the first three years. After a successful Third Year Review, a one-semester sabbatical is available in the fourth year, and the 3-2 teaching load may be continued for another three years contingent on a successful and promising record of scholarship.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in hand is strongly preferred. ABDs will be considered; however, continued employment is subject to completion of the Ph.D. no later than August 15, 2027.
