Job description

SUMMARY Reporting to the Medical Director and the Director of Operations and working as part of the Oncology Department team, the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will participate in all aspects of care including diagnosis, treatment and disposition with a particular focus on compassionate and courteous service. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Brown University Health employees are expected to successfully role model the organization's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence as these guide our everyday actions with patients, customers and one another. Obtain patient histories Perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate patients for plan of care Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures Coordinate tests and consultations Implement treatment plans which includes communicating with referring and consulting physicians Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members about treatment and medical care Prepare patients for treatment plans Perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants is required or master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.

Current Massachusetts license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required. EXPERIENCE Minimum of 1 year experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care is required. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively alongside our Emergency Physicians.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Fast-paced, interactive, team-oriented Emergency Department environment with a diverse range of patients and pathology. INDEPENDENT ACTION Responds to individual patient-care situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education, certification and work experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None.
