What you'll be doing

The Application Development team builds and supports scalable, secure, and modern technology solutions that help deliver strong outcomes for our clients and teams. As a Chapter Lead, Application Development, you'll lead and develop a team of software engineers while providing hands-on technical leadership across the software development lifecycle. You'll help shape an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing engineering culture by coaching team members, supporting workforce planning, and promoting continuous learning and engineering best practices. You'll partner with product, architecture, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, maintainable solutions that align with enterprise standards. You'll also champion modern engineering practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), automated testing, observability, DevSecOps, and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve delivery quality and team effectiveness. In this role, you'll balance strategic leadership with day-to-day execution, helping teams navigate change and deliver across multiple priorities.

How you'll succeed

  • Lead people and build capability - Lead, coach, and develop software engineers across varying levels of experience. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and career development.

  • Drive technical excellence - Provide technical leadership across application design, coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, deployment, and support. Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.

  • Enable modern engineering practices - Champion CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevSecOps to strengthen delivery quality and efficiency. Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the chapter.

  • Advance practical AI adoption - Identify opportunities to responsibly use AI-assisted development tools, automation, and analytics throughout the software lifecycle. Guide engineers on appropriate use cases, governance considerations, and sound engineering judgment.

  • Lead through change - Translate strategic direction into actionable priorities for engineering teams. Support adoption of new tools, technologies, and ways of working with clarity, empathy, and accountability.

  • Manage delivery and partnerships - Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners to deliver complex technology solutions. Provide transparent updates on progress, risks, dependencies, timelines, and team capacity while overseeing vendor performance and outcomes.
