About VIYA:

VIYA is a remediation service provider focused on solving complex soil and groundwater contamination challenges. Formed through the partnership of McMillan-McGee (Mc²) and ORIN Technologies, we deliver biological, chemical, and thermal solutions using a flexible, technology-agnostic approach for contaminants including PFAS, VOCs, and other emerging contaminants.


The Role:

We are seeking an Electrical Operations Supervisor/Master Electrician at our Calgary, Alberta location. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting operation and maintenance of electrical installations at project sites (primarily in situ and ex situ thermal remediation), and supporting manufacturing, deployment, and maintenance of electrical equipment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise VIYA shop electrical personnel, field electricians, and other field staff performing electrical scope of work.
  • Prepare Electrical Construction Work Packages for project sites for internal and contractor scopes of work under the direction of VIYA Engineering. Construction Work Packages will provide all information necessary to complete electrical, controls, instrumentation, and communications field installations, such as electrical drawings, cable schedules, installation instructions and quality control checklists.
  • Assist VIYA Engineering with electrical scope of work and cost estimates for project proposals.
  • Prepare Request for Proposal packages for electrical vendor, contractor and utility bids. 
  • Review and assess electrical bid proposals and contractor plans, including goals and objectives, work breakdown structure, detailed scope descriptions, detailed schedules, risk management approach, budget and staffing requirements. 
  • Provide technical direction and serve as a point of contact for onsite internal personnel and contractors, report to VIYA Engineering on field activities, and work to resolve problems specific to electrical installations. 
  • Support VIYA Engineering and Operations personnel and contractors in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and modifying electrical field installations.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a preventative maintenance program for all VIYA electrical equipment.
  • Determine and direct shop and contractor repairs, maintenance, modifications and upgrades of electrical equipment. 
  • Track inventory of electrical equipment and determine deployment of equipment to project sites.
  • Direct shop personnel and contractors in construction and procurement of new electrical equipment and assist VIYA Engineering in design of electrical equipment.
  • Advise personnel on safe work practices for field and shop electrical activities.
  • Inspect field and shop electrical work and provide instruction and technical guidance, as required.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Master Electrician license or similar education.
  • Ten years of work experience in industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience in design, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems including transformers, cabling, circuit protection, motors, electronic switching, control systems, communications, remote monitoring, and instrumentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code. Knowledge of NEC and other electrical codes is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet computer software.
  • Proficient in the use of computer aided design and drafting software.
  • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Field experience and competence with tools are considered assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, execution-focused environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (estimated at 20%).
