Project Manager – Environmental Engineering

Full-Time | Syosset, Long Island, NY

Salary Range

$90,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Company

A well-established, multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm is seeking a talented Project Manager to join its Environmental Engineering team. The firm provides engineering and construction management services to municipal and private clients throughout the Tri-State Region, specializing in civil, structural, traffic, environmental, landscape architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering. Typical project types include transportation infrastructure, utility improvements, site development, solid waste management facilities, and environmental monitoring/reporting programs.

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Engineering Project Manager with a strong background in environmental and/or civil engineering. This individual will manage design projects, permitting processes, and environmental monitoring/reporting tasks. The ideal candidate will also support business development initiatives and have clear potential to grow into a senior leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project teams, schedules, deliverables, and budgets.

  • Serve as primary client contact, ensuring excellent communication and service.

  • Support business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.

  • Oversee and prepare engineering design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Develop contract bid packages and funding applications.

  • Prepare technical reports, environmental permit applications, and related documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering; Master’s in Environmental Engineering is a plus.

  • 10–15 years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Active NYS Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Strong knowledge of New York State regulations, specifications, and codes.

  • Proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., Microsoft Office, CAD).

  • Proven experience in project management, technical writing, and business development is highly preferred.
