Geneva College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Computer Science & Cybersecurity. The position begins Jan 1, 2027 and will remain open, until filled.
Following is a complete job description with required skills, abilities, education, and experience. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications should submit the following information for consideration.

- A Cover Letter, which addresses your interest in this position, date of availability, and the specific skills and qualifications related to this position.
- A one-page statement of faith (“This is what I believe”).
- A statement of your faith journey and a narrative of your past and present church involvements.
- A statement which describes the integration of your field and Christian faith in light of the "Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” (these concepts are available at https://www.geneva.edu/about-geneva/foundational_concepts).
- A current vita/CV.
- Unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts (official copies will be required before being appointed).
Summary of Responsibilities: A successful candidate will have qualifications and experience to teach a variety of undergraduate computer science courses which could include Survey of Computer Science, Intro and Object-Oriented Programming, Software Engineering, Algorithms and Data Structures, Networking, AI, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Mobile Applications, among others.
Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Teach twelve contact hours per semester. Overloads may be necessary at times.
- Maintain currency in research and/or industry to better mentor students in advanced courses or design projects.
- Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course).
- Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines.
- Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
- Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
- Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
- Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
- Genuinely love working with college students.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Candidate must possess the ability to respond quickly to a changing industry landscape and be able to adapt courses to accommodate the most recent developments.

- Candidate must engage in academic advising of majors within the computer science and cybersecurity department.

Qualifications:
- Minimum:
- Education/Certification: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.
- Experience: Expertise and hands-on skills in at least one of these areas: software development, networking, data science, artificial intelligence.
- Teaching: Competence to teach in two or more of the following areas: computer organization, operating systems, programming, algorithms, database systems, networking, software engineering, artificial intelligence.
- Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
- Preferred:
- Education/Certification: PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.
Experience: Previous full-time successful higher education teaching experience preferred. Relevant industry experience preferred. Experience guiding individual student research opportunities. Academic or industry leadership experience.
