Pioneer is seeking an experienced SAP Master Data Management Lead to own the Master Data Management (MDM) program as part of Pioneer’s scope on client SAP ECC to S/4HANA transformation programs. 

This role is focused on defining business processes across all master data domains within an SAP S/4 implementation while guiding and advising the client in establishing best practices for data governance, data quality and reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience designing end-to-end create and maintenance processes for all MDM domains (Material/Article, Business Partner (Vendor, Customer, Employee) and Plant. Experience capturing and translating business requirements into configuration designs for all master data objects within SAP S/4 is a must. This includes an understanding of all end-to-end process and cross stream configuration requirements for Plant. The candidate should have hands-on experience with SAP MDG for Business Partner and Material, including the organizational governance model required to sustain ongoing data quality and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities 

SAP S/4 Master Data 

  • Capture and translate business requirements into configuration designs to support an SAP S/4 program across Material/Article, Business Partner and Plant domains 
  • Work across program workstream to validate Master Data configuration and data definition requirements 

SAP MDG 

  • Define business processes leveraging SAP MDG workflows for Material and Business Partner to create efficient and governed creation and maintenance processes 
  • Define end-to-end SAP MDG configuration, data model, governance workflows, validation rules, business rules and RICEFW requirements to support business process requirements 
  • Define SAP MDG UI requirements required to support process flow requirements 

MDM Program Design and Governance 

  • Advise on the MDM program framework for the transformation, including data domains in scope, governance structure, data ownership model, stewardship roles, escalation paths, and decision-making rights. 
  • Support data domain workshops with business stakeholders to define master data entities, critical attributes, golden record logic, and data ownership for each domain (e.g., Material, Customer, Vendor and Plants). 
  • Advise on the data stewardship operating model — defining steward responsibilities, data quality accountability, and the processes for ongoing governance after go-live. 
  • Support the development of MDM policies, data standards, and data quality thresholds by domain, aligned to S/4HANA data model requirements and future-state process design. 

Master Data Quality & Remediation 

  • Advise on best practice Data Quality and Remediation approaches when moving from SAP ECC to SAP S/4 

Data Migration Support 

  • Support business requirements for master data extraction, transformation, and load, including mapping from ECC source structures to S/4HANA target structures by domain. 
  • Advise on best practices for historical data retention, archiving, and data load reconciliation, ensuring audit and compliance needs are addressed. 

Reporting & Analytics 

  • Capture  business reporting requirements, identifying reports and KPIs required to support business processes and ongoing data quality maintenance. 

Stakeholder Engagement & Program Coordination 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MDM program workstream business process activities across business stakeholders, the System Integrator, and client technical teams. 
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment on master data business process designs that cut across business domains and program workstreams. 
  • Support change management activities related to data ownership and stewardship, helping business teams understand their role in sustaining data quality post-go-live. 
  • Represent the MDM workstream in program governance forums, escalating risks and decisions as needed and keeping leadership informed of MDM program status. 

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading Master Data Management workstreams on large SAP ECC or S/4HANA implementations or migrations 
  • Hands on experience in SAP S/4 and MDG configurations of SAP S/4 Master Data Objects (Material, Business Partner and Plant) 
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements gathering and business process design workshops across cross functional Master Data Objects (Material, Business Partner and Plant) 
  • Demonstrated experience establishing end-to-end business process workflows across a variety of governance scenarios (e.g. leveraging SAP MDG, external 3rd party tools or ‘home grown’ solutions) 
  • Experience defining SAP S/4 and MDG configuration and development requirements required to support the overall solution design 
  • Demonstrated experience designing MDM governance frameworks, data stewardship operating models, and data ownership structures in a large enterprise context 
  • Hands-on experience with master data quality assessment, profiling, and remediation across key SAP domains (Material, Customer, Vendor, Finance master data) 
  • Strong understanding of SAP master data structures in ECC and S/4HANA and the implications of ECC-to-S/4HANA data model changes by domain
  • Prior management consulting or system integrator experience in a client-facing delivery role preferred.
  • Experience supporting data migration activities including extraction requirements, transformation mapping, load validation, and cutover reconciliation 
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or SAP BW/4HANA for reporting and
  • Experience with SAP Signavio process mining to ground data and reporting design in observed process behavior (preferred) 

Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is $123,000-212,000 annually, based on a wide array of factors including skillset, years of experience, and role scope. Compensation may vary by location. Bonuses and other incentives are awarded at the Company’s discretion and are based upon individual contributions and overall company performance.
