Job Description:
This position is under the organization of the Building Maintenance Department, it is a multifunction technical position. This position will be working and performing carpentry, sheet metal, roofing, painting, minor plastering, Lock smithing, HVAC, and electrical. This position will be part of a maintenance team assigned to Housing.
Job Duties:
35%- Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen in performing general carpentry work involved with repair or maintenance of buildings and all related structures. Builds or repairs shelves, cabinets, windows, trim work, ceilings, suspended systems, doors, door frames, bulletin board, etc. Fits, cuts, and fastens all types of wall coverings (paneling, sheet rock, plywood, etc). Repairs and installs floor tile. Acts as good steward of State issued supplies and vehicles.
15%- Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen In performing general electrical work to maintain and install electrical components and systems, primarily 220 volts and under. Installs and makes repairs to light fixtures, light switches, receptacles, fuses, breakers, etc. Uses standard tools such as volt meters, watt meters, and related equipment to troubleshoot and isolate electrical problems. Makes repairs as needed. Utilize and embrace technological changes in department as they occur.
15%- Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen in performing general painting duties by preparing and painting buildings, furniture and other structures with brush or spray application.
10%-Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen In performing general sheet metal and roofing repairs, such as repairing down spouts and gutters, fume hoods and HVAC duct, drip pans for air handler units, etc.
10%- Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen in general plumbing duties by repairing and replacing worn plumbing fixtures, repairs leaking faucets, opens clogged drains and other minor plumbing problems.
10%- Performs personally and provides guidance, assistance, and support to other maintenance repairmen in performing building surveys to determine routine maintenance requirements and makes any repairs necessary, such as painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc. Makes reports to supervisors and performs other maintenance duties as directed. Minimum Qualifications:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
  • This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
