General Description

The successful candidate will be a significant contributor on our Project Execution Team. The Automation Engineer is responsible for the lead role in design, development, and implementation of our customers’ automation systems during capital projects. The Automation Engineer will be a significant contributor and often the lead technical resource on customer projects. The Automation Engineer will deliver quality solutions and services to customers using the technologies provided by DeltaV, Asset Management Systems (AMS) and other Emerson solutions.

The Automation Engineer will have close interaction with project management and account management to ensure that the project is delivered within the schedule and budget and with the high level of quality expected by our customers. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will provide mentoring and leadership to other engineers assigned to projects.

The Automation Engineer will also be expected to provide support to sales, generate estimates and proposals, and contribute to operations and project management functions.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead and work in a project team to meet schedule and budget
  • Monitor project scope and identify and evaluate potential deviations
  • Design and implement process control strategies
  • Implement control strategy configurations within the DeltaV DCS system
  • Write design documentation for a variety of continuous process control applications
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (“FAT”s) / Software Acceptance Tests (“SAT”s)
  • Support start-up and commissioning activities at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot system hardware, software, network, and instrument bus technologies
  • Contribute to company procedures and configuration standards
  • Generate project configuration estimates and assist in the generation of proposal documents
  • Develop custom shift, environmental, or production reports for plant maintenance and operations personnel
  • Configure process modeling & simulation (using both Mynah MiMic software & DeltaV)
  • Work independently on-site at a customer location

  • Experience with the Emerson DeltaV Control System
  • MS Office Experience

Preferred Experience/Competencies

  • Experience with Emerson Legacy Control Systems or PLCs
  • Understanding of regulated or validated systems
  • Prior experience working in a relevant manufacturing environment
  • Windows Server 2016/2019 and network troubleshooting skills
