Position Summary
The Bakery Associate is responsible for producing high-quality baked goods, decorating products, preparing fresh bakery items, and providing exceptional customer service. At Save More Marketplace, our bakery takes pride in producing scratch-made products alongside a wide variety of fresh breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and specialty items. Associates are expected to maintain the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, food safety, and presentation while delivering an outstanding shopping experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Prepare scratch-made bakery products using established recipes and production procedures.
  • Bake breads, rolls, cookies, muffins, pastries, cakes, pies, donuts, and other bakery items.
  • Scale, mix, proof, bake, cool, and finish products according to quality standards.
  • Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and specialty bakery items as needed.
  • Package, label, and price bakery products accurately.
  • Merchandise displays to ensure products remain fresh, attractive, and fully stocked.
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
  • Monitor product freshness and remove products that no longer meet quality standards.
  • Assist with custom cake orders, holiday production, and special requests.
  • Clean and sanitize bakery equipment, workstations, mixers, ovens, racks, utensils, and preparation areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing bakery inventory.
  • Work with department leadership to meet daily production goals while minimizing waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Previous bakery, food service, restaurant, or grocery experience is preferred but not required.
  • Scratch baking experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train motivated individuals.
  • Cake decorating experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including flour, ingredients, and bakery supplies.
  • Bend, twist, reach, kneel, and climb ladders as needed.
  • Safely operate bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, slicers, and dough equipment.
  • Work in both warm baking environments and refrigerated/freezer storage areas.
Work Schedule
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Early morning shifts are common due to daily scratch production.
  • Overtime may be required based on business needs and must be approved by management.
Food Safety Expectations
All Bakery Associates are expected to:
  • Follow all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Practice proper handwashing and personal hygiene.
  • Follow approved recipes and production procedures to ensure consistent quality.
  • Maintain proper temperatures during preparation, baking, cooling, and storage.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
